KCB injects $50,000 into Mt. Gorilla rally

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has injected $50,000(about Frw.28.8 million) into this year’s Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally scheduled for September 17-19. Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has injected $50,000(about Frw.28.8 million) into this year’s Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally scheduled for September 17-19.

KCB Rwanda Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Aretha Rwagasore confirmed to Times Sport recently that they (KCB) signed a sponsorship contract worth $50000 with Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC) in Kigali.

"It’s true we signed the contract with Rwanda Automobile Club that makes KCB the main sponsors of the rally,” Rwagasore said, adding that the rally will be dubbed KCB Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally.

According to Rwagasore the contract signed early last week is for this year’s rally and  there is an option of an extension depending on the outcome of the initial deal.

She also reiterated the bank’s commitment to support motorsport in the region, following successes in all events they have sponsored in the past including the prestigious KCB Kenya Safari Rally.

In a separate interview with Times Sport, the president of the Rwanda Automobile Club Dismus Kayibanda expressed gratitude to KCB for their support towards the event, adding that the sponsorship is will go along way to making the rally a success story once again.

"With KCB being the main sponsors of the Rwandan Gorilla Rally, the event will become more attractive not only to co-sponsors, but also to many foreign drivers and we hope to be bigger this year,” Kayibanda said.

Rwanda joined Kenya Commercial Bank East Africa Rally Challenge which started with the KCB Safari rally early this month in Nairobi with the KCB Kenya Safari Rally.

The second edition of the event will be the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally on May 1-3 in Kampala before winding up in Kigali with the KCB Rwanda Mt. Gorilla Rally.

KCB has continued its flagship sponsorships for KCB Kenya Safari Rally, KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and the KCB/Kenya National Cross Country Championships.

KCB is aimed at achieving its vision of being "the Best Bank in the Region” by providing a good platform for both subsidiaries to increase the brand awareness, visibility and support for the exciting sport.

This year’s edition will feature the KCB Safari Rally, the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and the KCB Mountain Gorilla Rally of Rwanda.
