Gisagara Volleyball Club has confirmed the signing of Ugandan left-attacker Kathbart Malinga on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old comes to the team with good experience, having played for several teams in the region and globally

Most notably, he has featured for foreign teams like Belediye Yüntas of Turkey, and Al Jazeera in the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking to Times Sport, Malinga described his new club as a good team with good players.

"I chose to go to Gisagara because it is a good team, I followed it up with good players whom I would want to play with," he said.

This is not the first time Malinga has played for Rwandan teams since he has also featured for REG VC and UTB VC in domestic competitions in the past.

”I’m still the Malinga you guys know from before. I am ready to help my team win trophies," he said.

Malinga joins Gisagara Volleyball Club to replace Yves Mutabazi who has already moved to Hatta club in Dubai.

Malinga's rise in the game can be traced to clubs like Uganda's UPDF VC which he played for in 2012, before he later moved to St Mary’s for a bursary before joining Nkumba VC in 2014.

He moved to Sky VC in 2016 and a year later, he secured a deal to join Marek Union Ivkoni VC in Bulgaria.

This year's season is set to begin on December 10 this year.
