DCMP Vs AS Kigali

Rwandan side AS Kigali face an uphill task to progress to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after their 2-1 first-leg loss to first round opponents Daring Club Motema Pembe in Kigali last Sunday.

DR Congo’s Motema Pembe hosts AS Kigali in a decisive clash at Stade de Martyrs, in Kinshasa, with the later seeking to overturn the 2-1 deficit for a spot into the second round of the continent’s second biggest club competition.

Latif Bishira, the AS Kigali captain, has rallied his teammates for total commitment ahead of the match. The club’s delegation arrived in the Congolese capital on Wednesday.

"We have set ourselves a target to win, and fight for a ticket to the next round,” said Bishira.

Separately, head coach Eric Nshimiyimana noted that "because this is an away match and we are trailing, our best chance is to play attacking football, but with caution. We will give it our 100 percent.”

He added: "When we lose the ball, we must defend well to avoid conceding goals.”

AS Kigali are representing the country in Caf Confederation Cup for a third successive season since winning the 2019 Peace Cup.
