The Hater: I hate people who…

…continue to undermine the significance of the genocide memorial week.

I have noticed that some uncultured fellows go around speaking carelessly about this period. I actually overheard one empty head speaking of how nice it can be to attend a night vigil in the company of a female friend.

Others are not ashamed to openly express ‘relief’ that the period has come to an end. I do not even want to think about the crazy ones who have continued to kill and torture survivors in the same period. Our society surely doesn’t need such people.

…insist on disembarking from the taxi at illegal spots.

Kigali has made its name as one of the most organised cities in the region and this is partly due to the fact that taxis only stop at designated areas.

However, some lazy and impatient passengers love to demand that the taxi stops anywhere so that they can quickly disembark. Do they know the police fines for such acts?

A taxi is bound by laws. It is not a horse that can stop anywhere. I also hate the drivers who give in to such silly demands. I think it is because fools always have company.

…love to blame me for things I am not even in control of.

One of these days I am going to sue the phone companies for defamation. I have been called all sorts of names by several people. They say I am a liar and a disgrace. I have taken all these abuses on behalf of MTN and Rwandatel.

Phone messages that are not delivered on time have made my reputation questionable in several ways. People need to understand that I am not working for any of these companies and so I cannot do anything much about their unreliable network. Sometimes the phone conversation is cut and I am blamed for having switched off my phone! Please, give me a break.

…expect their employees to do almost anything.

I have never known the wisdom of giving someone a job without clearly spelling out to them the boundaries of the job. Why for instance do you think that a secretary should be the one to take your children to school?

And who said the driver can appear as a guardian when your ill-mannered son is suspended from school? I already expressed disgust at the gatekeepers who double as receptionists.

You need to spell out the responsibilities of these people because it makes no sense for them to do almost everything without any adjustment in their earnings.

…always think I am not comfortably smart.

I am referring to those idlers who call themselves barbers. They have this nagging disease of always beckoning me for a hair cut as I pass close to their workplaces. They do this in all languages including sign language!

Their incessant action always leads me to wonder whether the hair cuts are free or are a compulsory government initiative. And maybe it is me who is crazy but if I have just had a hair cut and someone is calling me for another, is he seeing something that I am not?

Has he noticed that I could be having hair in other parts of my body apart from the head!? I am comfortable with my hairstyle and besides I have a hat too.
