AS Kigali Vs DCMP

AS Kigali’s tactician Eric Nshimiyimana has issued a wake-up call to his players ahead of their clash against Daring Club Motema Pembe of DR Congo in the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup.

The City of Kigali-sponsored side will host the first-leg on Sunday, October 17, at Kigali Stadium, before traveling for the decisive encounter at the Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa on October 24.

In an interview with this publication, Nshimiyimana urged his men to step up their game. "We certainly need to improve in all departments when we host the first leg. We must be clinical in front of goal.”

"We have to treat this tie like a final, especially the home game.  We know we are facing a big team, and we have prepared accordingly. I have no doubt my players will give it their best.”

AS Kigali reached the first round of Africa’s second biggest club competition last month after thrashing Comoros outfit Olympique de Missira 8-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round, including a 6-0 rout in the second leg in Kigali.

The 2019 Peace Cup champions are taking part in the continental showpiece for a third successive time and the fifth appearance overall, since the 2001 debut.

Last season, AS Kigali were eliminated by Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the second round.
