Rwanda Cooperation has commended its partners who have been working together with the agency for the last three years since its birth.

Rwanda Cooperation is a company set up with the target of sharing knowledge on Rwanda’s innovative homegrown initiatives and good practices through South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

The focal points from partner institutions were commended in a glamorous ceremony held on Friday, September 24th in Kimihurura sector. 

These focal points were hailed from institutions including government ministries, affiliated agencies, as well as the private sector. 

During her remarks, Ms. Urujeni Rosine, Rwanda Cooperation’s acting CEO hailed the focal point persons’ close and unwavering collaboration with the institution since its birth in September 2018. 

"I would like to thank each and every one of you for your close collaboration and for fostering the work that we do,” she told those present.

"Three years ago when this agency was born, we had few workers and few resources, but your close collaboration ensured that our work was done, and was done well, and contributed immensely to our rapid growth”, she recalled.

She then emphasized on the necessity of maintaining close contact with government institutions, as Rwanda Cooperation continues to share the country’s know-how.

On his part, Jean-Freddy Makuza, Rwanda Cooperation’s Chief Finance Officer, acknowledged the role of these institutional focal points during on-site visits coordination and channeling the delegations to Rwanda Cooperation, among other contributions.

Makuza recalled that the facilitation benefits not only the visiting delegations, but also Rwanda. "The move also helps us to learn from those foreign delegations, so it is a win-win situation, because they do not learn from us only, but we also acquire skills and successful initiatives from them,” he asserted.

Major Developments 

Commenting on the achievements, Urujeni asserted that despite getting hit by the impacts of Covid-19 just 18 months after its birth, Rwanda Cooperation managed to register plenty of milestones.

"Covid was a challenge to us, but we took it as an opportunity in a sense that it helped us to look inward, build ourselves and build an institution and make ourselves better,” Urujeni commented.

The milestones she highlighted include revamping Rwandapedia, an open platform created to provide easily accessible in-depth information and data on Rwanda’s transformation journey and its innovative initiatives, as well as codifying said initiatives.

In the pipeline, the agency is building a knowledge center as well as a virtual exhibition room. The latter will be a tour of Rwanda’s transformation journey through state-of-art technology. 

Richard Tushabe, head of the Ease of Doing Business bureau at the Rwanda Development Board- RDB, and the institution’s focal point with Rwanda Cooperation maintains that the company has made an impact in the way study visits are organised and conducted and how Rwanda’s homegrown initiatives are promoted globally.
