Quarter-finals Rwanda 0-3 Morocco

The national volleyball team was knocked out of the CAVB African Volleyball Championships after losing to Morocco on straight sets in a quarterfinal match that took place on Saturday, September 11 at the Kigali Arena.

Rwanda found it difficult to match the dominance of the Moroccans who started with intent, convincingly claiming the first set 17-25, before they won the second one with a slight 23-25 victory, and then returned to finish the work in the third one on 17-25 points.

The Rwandan team tried hard to put up a fight during the game, as Yves Mutabazi tried to deliver his robust ball-service, among other players that contended for victory, but the North Africans proved to be a very strong team for the hosts.

Four teams are through to the semi-finals. These include: defending champions Tunisia, Cameroon, Egypt and Morocco.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Volleyball African Nations Champions starts on Sunday, September 12, in Kigali as well, and it will run concurrently with the men’s tournament until the latter’s finals on September 16.

The women’s tournament will climax on September 20.

Rwanda is the first country to host the two competitions at the same time.
