Editor,
For the umpteen time I am spending my Easter Week in Rwanda, away from my home country Kenya, which coincides with the National Memorial Week.

And for the umpteenth time, I’ve marvelled at the awesome courage, vital resilience and fortitude of the people of this country.

Who indeed would have thought it would be this possible following the extreme pervasions of the 1994 Genocide?

Yet everywhere I have gone this week, I have seen very extensive grief in memoriam but which is also couched by definite optimism and determination to live on and get better.

Humanity has learnt clear lessons from Rwanda’s experience, both about the dangers of divisive and retrogressive politics, but also importantly how to restart as a Nation the onerous tasks of living once again after suffering horrendous events such as the 1994 Genocide.

My heart and soul go out to the brave people of Rwanda. I assure you that you will never stand alone ever again.
