Jean Claude Rugamba, better known as DJ Caspi has been competing with seven African DJs from different countries. On June 29, Caspi announced on his Instagram page that he’d come in 3rd place in the competition.

The DJ who hosts a music show on Flash Radio and television will arrive in Rwanda on July 1.

"This is the first competition I’ve been a part of and I had hope that I’d win but unfortunately I came in 3rd place. I encountered many challenges along the way that made me learn more and that will come in handy in other battles in the future.

"My practice and how I thought the competition would be, was totally different from DJ Battle Africa. I was asked to do things I had never done before but I was committed, so I had to try and find ways to perform well,” he says.

"It was an honour to have been part of the competition because I learnt many new things and got to meet new people, especially other DJs around the continent. It was a great experience for a DJ who wants to grow more,” he adds.

Rugamba says that he is grateful to Burundian DJ, Alida, who helped him with the translation because nobody else could speak English in the competition, and she made sure to translate everything that was being said during the competition which was in French.

He was awarded $600 plus different equipment like a pioneer controller and headphones.

This was the second season of the competition that started in 2020.
