The Police in Vancouver, Canada have responded to more than 130 sudden deaths since Friday, most were elderly or had underlying health conditions, with heat often a contributing factor, the BBC reported.

This comes when Canada broke its temperature record of 49.6C (121.3F) for a third straight day on Tuesday 29th  in British Columbia while before Sunday 26th, temperatures in Canada have never passed above 45C.

According to the BBC, British Columbia Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe said that 100 more deaths than normal had been reported in the period from Friday to Monday.

In Some areas, they have responded to sudden death incidents but have yet to collate the numbers.

Lytton resident Meghan Fandrich told the Globe & Mail newspaper it has been "almost impossible to go outside,” she said she is afraid to even open the front door and let any bit of heat in, "We're trying to stay indoors as much as possible.

Reports indicate that firefighters were extremely concerned at the possibility of wild fires, possibly sparked by thunderstorms that could occur as the weather pattern changes.
