Iwacu Muzika Festival is back.

Singer Platini Nemeye, best known as Platini (P), is set to headline the opening day of the annual musical show, on Saturday.

Like last year, this year's edition will take place virtually thanks to Covid-19.

The night-time show will be aired live on Rwanda Television (RTV), starting 10:30p.m. Each performance lasts an hour.

The festival is planned to take place every Saturday, featuring different artistes, and it is expected to run through December.

Platini told The New Times that he is ready to deliver a good performance to entertain his fans and music lovers in general, who will be watching from their homes.

"Opening the festival show means a lot to me and my fans, it’s been months without performing, so this is the right time to entertain Rwandans,” said the R&B star.

The former Dream Boyz member, who is now pursuing a solo career, had last performed five months ago at a My Talent concert alongside other artistes like Nel Ngabo.

The Veronica hitmaker said he had rehearsed well with the symphony band and promised a great show.

"I have a feeling this will turn out to be one of the best performances this year,” said Platini.

Songs like HelenaAtansiyo, and Veronica will be expected to feature in his performance.

Iwacu Muzika Festival, which seeks to promote the Rwandan music industry, is organised by East African Promoters, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Culture, Tembera U Rwanda, RBA, among others.
