Former beauty queen Ngamije appointed deputy DG of aviation body

Miss Popularity Rwanda 2009, Winnie Ngamije, has been appointed as the Deputy Director General of Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority.

She was appointed by the cabinet meeting that convened on June 12 chaired by President Paul Kagame.

In 2009, Ngamije was also crowned second runner-up of Miss Rwanda, a pegeant that was won by Grace Bahati.

She was decorated Miss Popularity in the beauty pageant after tallying the highest number of SMSs and votes online. She then walked away with $3,000 in addition to other gifts from Bank Populaire du Rwanda(BPR).

Ngamije holds a Masters of Business Administration specialising in project management from Oklahoma Christian University which she obtained in 2017.

She earned her bachelors degree from the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, which has since become part of the University of Rwanda,  where she studied Computer Science Engineering.

She previously worked with MTN Rwanda before moving to Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority in 2011 where she has been working till today.

Upon being appointed, she took to Twitter and pledged her commitment to the aviation industry:

"What an honour! Thank you, your Excellency @PaulKagame for entrusting me with this noble duty,” tweeted the mother of two.

"I pledge my commitment and look forward to continue adding value to the aviation industry. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve!” she concluded.
