Wednesday, June 09, 2021

Miniso, a Japanese-inspired lifestyle product retailer offering high-quality household goods and cosmetics at affordable prices, has ventured into the Rwandan market.

The firm’s franchise in Rwanda is located at Kigali Business Centre (KBC) commercial complex which was launched on Thursday, June 3.

It will give customers easy access to goods ranging from children's toys to kitchen utensils and home appliances at a 10% per cent discount for the first week.

Zeeshan Talat, the enterprise’s Managing Director, highlights the company’s growth since its entry to Rwanda in 2019.

"We started our business in 2019 at Danube home, and MINISO being added up in our enterprise, we have employed 40-50 employees, hopefully targeting at least more jobs across the country in the coming years,” he said.

We also have plans to expand MINISO and open up more stores in different corners of the country, he added.

Zeeshan also highlights that the company plans to launch an online platform to facilitate those who prefer e-commerce services.

"We will soon introduce E-Commerce services for those who can order products using online platforms and deliver the products to different customer proximities,” he noted.

The new shop, according to Joselyne Kamo Niyonshuti, the enterprise’s Human Resource Manager, will be offering a wide range of products:

"We have a variety of products in this shop starting from birthday gifts to children's toys, electronic gadgets and jewelry products among others, which can all be found here,” she added.

Kamo also adds that the cash and carry shop will make future decisions progressively depending on the customers’ needs.

"We never make a decision by ourselves, we base it on our customers’ needs. We might have future plans, yes, but we base on what our customers want and need.”

Miniso is considered one of the world’s most trusted designer brands for creative innovation and has recently scooped The German IF Design Award 2019.

With 4,200 branches around the globe, Miniso is present in more than 80 countries and had a net profit of $2.4 million in 2019.
