Mubarak Muganga promoted to Lt Gen, named Army Chief of Staff

Major General Mubarak Muganga has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed the Chief of Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

The development is part of the latest promotions and appointments made by President Paul Kagame, the Commander in Chief of RDF.

The announcement was made on Friday, June 4 in a communique issued by RDF.

Lt Gen. Muganga replaces Lt Gen. Jean-Jacques Mupenzi who was appointed the new Air Force Chief of Staff, during the same changes.

Before this, Muganga has been serving as Division I commander of the RDF. He is also the President of APR Football Club.

Major Gen. Emmanuel Bayingana who has been serving as the Airforce Chief of Staff has been named the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.

Bayingana takes over from Retired Colonel Innocent Gashugi.
