Women IPRC-Huye 71-59 the Hoops

Cameroon-born power forward Beleck Bell Engelbert scored a game-high 24 points on Sunday evening as he inspired his side-Rwanda Energy Group (REG)-to a fourth consecutive pre-season basketball tournament after beating IPRC-Kigali 67-53 in the final at the Kigali Arena.

IPRC-Kigali started the game well and took the first quarter 14-13, however, REG took control in the second with 14-11. The first half ended 27-25 with the former leading.

However, after the break, REG managed to come back into the game and won the third and the fourth quarters respectively.

"This was a good performance. The players again proved we are ready for the new season,” Mwinuka told reporters after the victory.

Power forward Beleck Bell Engelbert contributed 24 points and 16 rebounds while Kami Kabange added 15 points.

Olivier Turatsinze led PRC-Kigali with 12 points, while Armand Cyubahiro added 10 points.

Both champions in men and women walked away with trophies and one million francs cash prize.

In the women category, IPRC-Huye basketball retained the pre-season title after beating The Hoops 71-59 in the final game.
