After a successful and memorable launch of his debut album ‘The Love Lab’ back in 2018, singer and songwriter Yvan Buravan has started working on his second album, which he expects to release before the year ends.

It’s been a year since the afro-pop singer started working on his new album and is putting the last touches on the songs before releasing it to his supporters.

Though he is hesitant to share many details about his upcoming album, Buravan reveals that he has so many songs that he is working on with different producers, from which he plans to select 10 that will feature on the album.

"We are working on the final touches for some songs before I start releasing them. Some will be out before the album release, but the majority of the songs will be dropped after the release,” he says.

While his debut album preaches love, the singer tells The New Times that the second is a bit different as it goes beyond love, as some songs draw inspiration from his life experience.

"Love is what I am talking about throughout my music but there is more than just love in the second album. It talks about my experience, what I have lived through the past years and, in the end, it’s here to help people know who I am as a person,” the singer says.

Upon releasing his maiden album, critics were quick to accuse the singer of slowing down the pace despite winning the Prix Decouverte RFI and his successful music tours in different African countries that followed.

The singer, however, came out and explained that he needed to take some time off after the tour before returning to the music scene.

Thanks to the African music tour, he met a number of international artistes with whom he did some collaborations which make up his latest Extended Play (EP) ‘Foreign Affairs’.

The EP comprises three songs namely ‘Si Belle’ a remix which features musician A Pass, ‘Tulale’, a collaboration with Congolese singer Geze Mawete and ‘Tote’ a collaboration with Angolan music group Dream Boys whom he met when he was in Angola during his Africa tour, months after winning the Prix Decouverte RFI in 2018.

He says that the experience he had since the first album launch introduced his name to the international music scene.

About the new album, Buravan says he is doing his best to focus on creativity.

"I incorporated creativity and diversity because from my experience, this is an industry that demands creation. I am also trying to create the identity of my music from my new album,” he says.

While Buravan says he only has good memories of his debut album, the singer is looking forward to gaining a lot more from the upcoming album.

"I had a good experience from ‘The Love Lab’ because it pushed me to another level of the music scene. While I spent three years making a breakthrough, the album cemented who Buravan is, and that it is possible that new artistes can thrive,” he says.

"I am always happy with what I have accomplished, but I am hungry to achieve more. I am always determined to improve and reach more milestones,” he adds.

The singer also does not plan to launch his album with a concert but through available music distribution platforms.

"A concert will come later, after the album release,” he says.
