Yvonne Idamange to appear in court on Thursday

Yvonne Idamange Iryamugwiza is set to appear before the Gasabo Primary Court on Thursday, March 4, The New Times has learned.

According to the Judiciary Spokesperson, Harrison Mutabazi, Iryamugwiza’s court hearing is expected to kick-off at 8 a.m.

Iryamugwiza faces six charges including denigrating genocide commemoration artifacts, inciting an uprising among the public, publication of rumours as well as intentional assault and battery.

Other charges include blocking the enforcement of government orders and issuing a bounced cheque.

The 42-year-old was arrested on February 15, after allegedly using her YouTube channel to call for demonstrations against the Presidency, urging potential protesters to carry Bibles.

Rwanda National Police described her actions as "exhibiting behaviour that mixes politics, criminality, and madness”.
