Rwanda records 281 new cases of Covid-19

Rwanda recorded 281 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, January 27, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 14,166.

The above cases were identified from 4,156 samples that were tested on the same day. 

The new cases were as usual detected from different parts of the country, with Kigali leading with 177 new infections, followed by Kayonza District with 15, Gicumbi with 12, Nyamagabe with 11, and Huye with 10.

Kirehe District got 9 new cases, Nyanza had 8, Gatsibo had 7, Gakenke had 5, Musanze had 5, and Ruhango 4.

The other cases were registered in Muhanga with 3, Nyagatare with 3, Kamonyi with 3, Rwamagana with 2, Karongi with 2, Rulindo with 2, Gisagara with 2, and Ngoma with 1.

On the same day, there were 181 recoveries from the virus, taking the total number of those that have recovered from it in the country to 9,042.

Two new deaths related to the virus were also registered on Wednesday. The Ministry of Health identified the deceased as a man and woman,  both aged 66 from Huye and Kigali respectively.

Currently, the confirmed deaths related to the pandemic in Rwanda are 183.
