Meddy nominated for MTV Africa Awards

Rwandan singer Meddy has been nominated for MAMAu2019s Awards under u2018Listeneru2019s Choiceu2019 category.

Singer Médard Jobert Ngabo, commonly known as Meddy, has been nominated for one of the continent’s most prestigious music awards, MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs).

He is the only Rwandan musician nominated for the MAMAs 2021 whose virtual awarding ceremony is slated for February 26.

The U.S-based Rwandan was nominated alongside 19 fellows in the ‘Listener’s Choice’ category which is new, because it was not announced in December 2020.

The 31-year-old R&B star who took to his social media to ask fans for their votes has been nominated for different awards for his smooth voice, amazing dance moves and boy-next-door charm.

Particularly in MAMA, this is the second time that he gets nominated after the 2016 turn in South Africa.

Voters this year will be able to vote online using the organizers’ website, MTVbase.com.

The awarding categories are 16 including The Best Lusophone Act, Artist of the Year, and the Best Group among others.

Big African names in those categories are Master KG, Burna Boy, Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Sheebah, Yemi Alade and WizKid among others.

Since 2008, the awards are aimed at recognizing musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year.

MAMA 2021 will celebrate 52 African talents across 12 countries.
