HEROES’ DAY CONCERT, an event organised to pay tribute to the country’s heroes has gone virtual as one of the efforts to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organized every year, the concert aims at celebrating and recognising selfless individuals including men and women, who led by example and defended the values of patriotism, sacrificing their lives for the wellbeing of the country and Rwandans.

Speaking to The New Times, Nicholas Rwaka, an official at The Chancellery of National Heroes, said that the concert will be celebrated virtually due to the ongoing measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Themed, "Heroism: Our dignity”, the day’s concert will be headlined by leading Rwandan traditional bands like Army Jazz band and Urukerereza, alongside independent artists like Peace Jolis and Alyn Sano among others who are still yet to be confirmed.

Apart from the singers, the show will also be graced by poets, and painters, Rwaka said.

The 26th edition of the annual celebrations will be streamed on the national broadcaster and other private broadcasters like TV1, BTN and Flash TV among others.

Rwaka however, noted  that the dates are yet to be decided between January 31 and February 1.
