Covid-19: Rwanda records 4 deaths as fatality rate reaches 124

On Monday January 11, the Covid-19 fatality rate in the country rose from 1.2 to 1.3 percent as 4 new deaths were recorded on the day, taking the total number of those who have died from the virus to 124.

According to an update from the Rwanda Biomedical on Monday evening, the four people that died include two women: of 45 and 73 years; and a 70-year old man - all from Kigali.

The other fatality is an 86-year-old man from Rulindo district.

On the same day, 154 new cases of positive cases were confirmed out of the 1,890 tests carried out.

Of the confirmed cases, 88 were from Kigali, 11 from Gisagara, 10 from Huye, 11 from Gicumbi, 9 from Rwamagana, 6 from Karongi, 4 from Nyagatare, 3 from Musanze, 3 from Rubavu, 2 from Rusizi, 2 from Kamonyi, 2 from Bugesera, 1 from Muhanga, 1 from Rulindo, and 1 from Nyabihu.

Currently, the country has confirmed a total of 9,784 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic's first case was reported in Rwanda in March 2020.

Of these, 6,974 have recovered, while 2,686 are active cases.

In total, the country has carried out Covid-19 769,338 tests.
