FEATURED: Bank of Kigali rewards clients for promoting cashless payment
Thursday, December 31, 2020

Bank of Kigali (BK) and MasterCard Foundation on Thursday, December 31, awarded two outstanding clients who participated in the ongoing campaign that seeks to foster cashless payments.

Dubbed ‘Mu munyenga na Mastercard’, all clients of BK who perform single transactions worth Rwf25,000 and above using their BK Mastercard debit or credit cards online or via Point of Sale (POS) are eligible to win different prizes.

Etienne Rutaganira, one of the awarded clients welcomed the prize, citing that he uses his ATM card mainly due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.

"I am really happy about this prize which actually surprised me. For me, I didn’t use this card in order to win the prize, instead, I preferred using the ATM card as part of the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.”

Rutaganira noted, "With this laptop, I am able to conduct more services online as a businessman. But I also encourage the rest who have accounts in Bank of Kigali to practice the use of ATM cards.”

Similarly, Florence Uwineza, a resident of Kamonyi District, who scooped a motorbike, pointed out that she has been conducting all transactions using her ATM card, mainly because the method is more secure.

"I am really happy about this prize. Actually, I couldn’t believe it when someone from Bank of Kigali called me. Normally I have chosen to use the card because to me it is safer and more secure.”

She added, "With this motorbike, I am going to be able to employ a motorcyclist so that I can also improve someone’s life.”

According to Tharcisse Byukusenge, the campaign which is expected to end next month has attracted relatively good participants.

"The campaign is doing well because there is good participation. We started with 500 participants but the numbers have risen to 900.”

Byukusenge called on more clients to participate, especially with the pending grand prize of a Mahindra KUV 100 NXT car.
