Nigerian striker Aboubakar Lawal has vowed to score goals when his team take on KCCA of Uganda in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup tie on Wednesday, December 23 at Kigali Stadium.

AS Kigali are favourites to win the match as the Ugandan side will be missing six key players and their head coach Mike Mutebi, after they contracted coronavirus before leaving Kampala.

Ahead of the anticipated game, striker Lawal believes that his side should score many goals to have a clear advantage ahead of the second leg in Kampala slated for January, 5-6.

"We need to play as a unit for the whole duration of the match and I am confident that I will play my part by scoring goals. We have a chance of winning this game but we need to fight until the last minute,” he added

Meanwhile, AS Kigali captain, Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye said that they are looking for nothing less than a win.

"We are absolutely delighted to reach here but we still have a lot of work to do, we are hungry to win this game and we’ll give our best to win both games so that we get to the next round,” Ndayishimiye said.

Sources close to the club have revealed that the club has promised both the playing and coaching staff a bonus of Rwf450,000 if they manage to eliminate KCCA.

AS Kigali made it to the next round of the competition on the away goals rule after eliminating Orapa of Botswana.

After losing the first leg 2-1 in Botswana, AS Kigali returned home to win 1-0 courtesy of a goal scored by Nigerian striker Lawal Aboubakal and advanced after the tie finished 2-2 courtesy of their goal scored in the first leg.
