Bank of Kigali (BK) and Mastercard on Monday, December 14, launched a new campaign dubbed ‘Mu Munyenga na Mastercard’ that seeks to encourage cashless payments.

Under the campaign, clients of BK who perform single transactions worth Rwf25, 000 and above using their BK Mastercard debit or credit cards online or via Point of Sale (POS) will be eligible to win different prizes.

The prizes include laptops, motorbikes, a Mahindra KUV 100 NXT car, which is the grand prize of the campaign and shopping vouchers.

BK staff, however, are not eligible for the grand prize and motorbike.

According to BK, the campaign will run till January 31. The winners will be announced every week.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Benjamin Mutimura, Chief Commercial Officer of BK reiterated that cashless is the way to go.

He said: "This is not our first time to do such campaigns that promote cashless transactions. We encourage our clients to use their MasterCard cards whenever making transactions and be eligible for winning these prizes. The more you transact, the higher your chances of winning.”

"The security of these cards is assured and they can be used in over two million places country-wide. They also save time. For those without a bank account in BK, get to a nearby branch and open one,” he added.

‘Mu Munyenga na Mastercard’ campaign comes as the government is also encouraging cashless payments in a bid to among others prevent the spread of Covid-19.
