Cogebanque to reward users of its Mastercard products

Cogebanque Plc on Wednesday, December 9, launched a product campaign for Mastercard debit, credit and prepaid cards, whereby customers who transact frequently using these products, will stand a chance to win various prizes especially during this festive season.

Its Transact & Win with Cogebanque Mastercard campaign is dubbed "Biroroshye Hamwe na Cogebanque Mastercard”.

This campaign will run for the next three months with an objective to align with the aspirations of the bank’s customers who are going into festive season, suggesting that as the New Year begins, many will be looking to purchasing or paying for some essentials.

In a news conference to announce the campaign, the bank announced that it has lined up a lot of prizes for whoever uses Cogebanque debit, credit or prepaid Mastercards while paying for goods and service like settling bills, making withdrawals or shopping online.

Cogebanque’s sales agents will be available at selected outlets looking out for customers who will be transacting using these Mastercards and will instantly or weekly reward customers with prizes such as; cash, shopping vouchers, fuel vouchers, laptops, smartphones, airtime, home appliances among others to be won.

The cards are used for transactions wherever there is a point of sale (POS) devices.

According to 2019 - 2020 Annual Report by the National Bank of Rwanda, the number of businesses using point of sale (POS) devices in the country increased by 29 per cent from 3,046 in 2018/2019 to 3,929.

As a financial partner, the bank promised to back its customers’ efforts to stay afloat and to keep going during these challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic.

Throughout the Covid-19 lockdown period, the Bank encouraged the public to go-cashless through using digital payments in a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic.

To kick off the campaign three lucky customers were awarded Rwf200,000 each for their loyalty, for consistently using Cogebanque Mastercards during the lockdown.

This, its management said, serves as a small token of appreciation from the Bank and will act as a boost to its customers.

Augustin Rubangura, one of the awarded customers said that a Cogebanque Mastercard he holds helped him a lot during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I am happy to be among the clients who received this prize,” he expressed, pointing out that he used the card to buy products very frequently, for his company called Upromedia which engages in media advertising services.

"It saves the time that I would spend going frequently to the bank in favour of the time for doing business,” he said adding that it reduced contacts associated with cash transactions, hence contributing to curbing the Covid-19.

Accessibility, safe transactions

On the security of the money, he said "the cardholder moves with their money on an easily portable card that safely keeps the money with a password.”

Antoine Iyamuremye, Head of Marketing and Product Development at Cogebanque underlined that the cards ensure safe transactions and payment, and help to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, warning users against sharing the passwords of their cards with other people.

 "Our main interest is to provide quality service to customers in an efficient manner that satisfies their needs,” he said, pointing out that the different Mastercards enables people to enjoy self-financial services through their technology.

Talking about the benefits, Iyamuremye cited the credit card whereby the Bank grants credit to a customer based on their income through an overdraft facility and when they pay it back within 55 days, they are not charged any interest.

On the accessibility aspect, Iyamuremye said that the Mastercards are accepted worldwide, pointing out that there are over 36 million locations where such cards can be used for transactions globally.

Cogebanque has 28 branches, over 600 agents, and 36 ATMs across the country. These are supported by Mobile banking (USSD on *505# and Mobile App "Coge mBank”), Cards (Mastercards & Smart cash) and internet banking delivery channel accessible through different media.
