The National Basketball team coach Serbian Vladimir Bosnyak has warned his team about the physical nature of Mali, who play Rwanda in their opening match in the Afro basket tournament on Thursday, November 26, 2020.

In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, Bosnyak said he had watched videos of Rwanda’s opponents and singled out Mali’s physical presence as a challenge, his team needs to cope with if they are to get off to a winning start.

"The Malians are big and use their physicality to good advantage. It is something that me and my coaching team are devising ways to deal with,” the Serbian coach said adding that he has a game plan on how to deal with that.

The National team played a friendly against Mozambique on Sunday and won 96 to 65. Luckily for coach Bosnyak, no player suffered an injury.

Meanwhile 10 teams in the country for the 5-day tournament and they include: Tunisia, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Senegal, Angola, Mozambique and Kenya, Mali, Nigeria and South Sudan. Madagascar is expected to jet in on November 25.

The FIBA Africa Board approved two cities to host games in a protected environment tournament format (bubbles).

Kigali, Rwanda is set to host three of the tournaments featuring 12 teams from Groups A, B and D, with the four teams of Group E competing in Alexandria, Egypt.

The 16 national teams split in four groups will play the first round of Group A, B, D and E fixtures in Alexandria, Egypt and Kigali, Rwanda from November 25-29, 2020.

All games of each group will be played in protected environments in order to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
