Two men, both aged 45, succumbed to Covid-19 in Rwanda on Monday, November 9, raising the tally of the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 38.

Both victims passed away in Rwamagana district, the same district where 14 new Covid-19 infections were recorded on the same day.

Earlier in the day, the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Ngamije had said that 13 inmates from Nsinda Correctional Facility in Rwamagana tested positive for Covid-19.

Ngamije said steps were being taken to safeguard not only the other inmates detained at Nsinda, but also in other correctional facilities across the country.

Monday also saw one case reported each in the City of Kigali and the district's of Kayonza and Kirehe.

Three cases were detected in Huye district according to the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, on the same day, eight people recovered from Covid-19 in Rwanda.

The latest results were obtained from 1,293 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Rwanda, the country has confirmed a total of 5,242 Covid-19 cases of whom 4, 967 have already recovered.

571,902 tests for the Virus have been conducted so far in Rwanda.

As the country continues to put in place measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, citizens are urged to adhere to set directives at all cost, for the wellbeing of everyone.
