US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, on Wednesday late night delivered election night speeches as millions of America and the world waited for the results of the country’s November 3 elections.

Biden, a Democratic presidential candidate, delivered brief remarks to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters at a drive-in gathering in Delaware State from where he has reportedly been watching election results with his family.

"We knew this was going to go long,” the former Vice President for Barack Obama said, acknowledging that the race will be dragging into Wednesday. "We feel good about where we are. We really do.”

Biden said that he felt confident about winning Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, arguing that "it ain't over until every vote is counted until every ballot is counted.”

"I'm here to tell you tonight we believe we're on track to win this election,” Biden said. "I'm optimistic about this outcome.”

By Wednesday night (US time zone), some states were still counting ballots.

Trump also took to the stage from the White House to address a small crowd of excited staff, claiming that he had "won the election” even as millions of votes were uncounted in many states.

Trump claimed that he had won several states that are still counting ballots, including Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

The US President asserted that there was election fraud, threatening to mount a legal challenge to official state results. "We would be going to the Supreme Court.”

It is expected that most votes will be counted by Friday, November 6.

According to different polls, however, Biden leads the race.
