The beauty of enthusiasm to learn is that it offers you the ability to create new ideas in your mind, open doors to you for career and business success, but most significantly a path for making dreams a reality-this explains a young artist’s journey and vigour.

It all took just one step out of his comfort zone to learn something unique. Such is the story of Blaise Shumbusho, a 20-year-old artist, who has found his niche in designing cakes.

The resident of Muhoza sector in Musanze District, is a graduate of Nyundo Arts School, whose goal after accomplishing High School was to search for some art galleries where he could sell his artworks.

However, he had a purpose to at least focus on something new because that way, he supposed he would maybe earn more money.

Shumbusho searched on the Internet and found some tutorials on how to design cakes by using paints and a brush. This is something he picked interest in.

In just a few months, he was skilled in this craft. His next step was to look for a bakery to exercise his expertise. After roaming from one bakery to another in vain, he finally got a job at Royal Cakes in Remera.

He paints cakes using food colour and a brush. The kind of hyper realistic cakes you wouldn’t imagine, from a shoe to a Gucci bag or car. You name it.

The artist makes any kind of designs of cakes depending on a client’s preference. For example, cakes in the shapes of cars, trees, radios, houses, bags, balls, people and so forth.

He is also learning how to bake cakes. He is making money and helping out his family –this was his childhood dream.

So far, his main challenge is that the food colour is a bit expensive yet it is his main equipment.

"My advice to the young people who are waiting for office jobs, is not to wait for tomorrow, start now where you’re. You can make money through your talent and help other people, develop the country and curb the high rate of unemployment,” Shumbusho explained.

His main objective now is to work hard in order to expand his talent and maybe one day own his cake business and offer jobs to many youths.
