Aime Fulgence Barawigirira is a Rwandan whose talent in the movie industry has and is still taking him places. 

He has written, directed, and acted in quite a number of movies. Well, not to forget that he is a certified film teacher too.

The movie star is one of the many people with the desire to curb the depravity of corruption, not only in Africa but the rest of the world.

This has impelled him to start writing and crafting a movie about corruption. The movie that is still in the pipeline will highlight the negative consequences aggravated on society due to corruption, as it is the enemy hindering development.

According to Barawigirira, the idea of writing the script of this movie was stirred while doing his research on corruption for his PhD in leadership.

The movie that is anticipated to be released in 2022 is expected to be in Italian, French, German, and Kinyarwanda languages.

His career

Barawigirira was born in Rwanda where he attended Petit Seminaire St Dominique and Petit Seminaire st Leon de Kabgayi. He later moved to Italy in the city of Lucca where he graduated from Valisneri Scientific High School in sociology.

In 2010, he participated in a biennial literary poetic artistic competition by Riccardo Ambrosini where he scooped the national award — he emerged the best screenwriter in the artistic field in 2011.

The talented movie director also acted in "Teatro de Giglio” as an artistic actor. In 2013, he won a scholarship in the artistic film academy of Rome where he moved to Rome for his five-year course.

He was later granted the certificate that allows him to be a film director, film actor and screenwriter, and film teacher.

In 2017, Barawigirira made a documentary known as "New Heroes” that was aired on an Italian TV station called Rai3.

He was the protagonist in the film dubbed, "I Don’t Want the Moon” in 2018. He also starred in a movie titled, "The Kings of Today” as the king of Egypt in 2019.

He has acted in six movies so far.

How can the local movie industry be boosted?

"The people with talent should be supported financially to study in the cinematographic art field because one skilled person in the domain can educate many other young people to be actors, directors, videographers and so forth. All we need in Rwanda is the funding because the talents are many yet not trained,” the movie actor states.
