Woman shot dead outside home

In a cold blooded murder, a woman identified by police as  Deborah Nyirarukobwa (40), was on Tuesday night shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside her home in Rwezamenyo Sector, in Nyarugenge District.

In a cold blooded murder, a woman identified by police as  Deborah Nyirarukobwa (40), was on Tuesday night shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside her home in Rwezamenyo Sector, in Nyarugenge District.

"Nyirarukobwa was shot three bullets in the chest at 8:30pm on Tuesday night in front of her house in Kabuguri cell, Rwezamenyo Sector, Nyarugenge District,” said the Police Spokesperson John Uwamungu.

He added: "we are carrying on with the investigation, for now, we haven’t made any arrests but we have suspects under probe.”

The police sources have related the motive of killing to family disputes but Uwamungu could not reveal details of Nyirarukobwa’s family grievances saying that it would tamper with investigations.

Nyirarukobwa’s body is currently at Kigali University Hospital (CHU/K) mortuary for post-mortem.

Nyirarukobwa was married with her husband being said to be living in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), she is survived by six children.

The murder takes place a few days after a businessman Michael Shema, was also shot dead by unknown assailants also outside his home in Jali Sector, Gasabo District.
