Covid-19: Mahama Refugee Camp registers more cases

The Ministry of Health has announced that 35 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Rwanda on Friday, October 23.

Of the new cases, 27 were identified in Mahama Refugee Camp located in Kirehe district, Eastern Province.

The cluster of refugee camps was identified last week, whereby following Mahama, Kiziba Refugee Camp in Karongi District also confirmed some Covid-19 cases recently.

Meanwhile, Kigali also confirmed four new Covid-19 cases on Friday.

Nyagatare and Burera districts also reported three cases and one case of the pandemic respectively.

On the same day, the country announced the recovery of three people.

So far, according to the Ministry of Health, 95 percent of all people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Rwanda have recovered.

The latest results were obtained from 2,086 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Rwanda in March, the country has confirmed a total of 5,062 Covid-19 cases of whom 4, 806 have already recovered.

Concerning testing, in total, Rwanda has carried out 542,222 tests of Covid-19.
