Covid-19: Five more cases confirmed in Kigali

Five people tested positive for Covid-19 in Kigali on Thursday, October 22.

The results, according to the Ministry of Health, were obtained from 2,051 tests taken in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the country reported five recoveries on the same day.

So far, according to the Ministry of Health, 96 percent of all people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Rwanda have recovered.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Rwanda in mid-March, the country has confirmed a total of 5,017 Covid-19 cases of whom 4,803 have already recovered.

Concerning testing, in total, Rwanda has carried out 540,136 tests of Covid-19.

So far, the country’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 34 people.

Rwanda was on Tuesday applauded by the World Health Organisation (WHO) "for instituting a strong system” that has enabled the country to "effectively confront” the Covid-19 pandemic.
