Kagame to deliver keynote at J’burg Leadership Summit

JOHANNESBURG - President Paul Kagame arrived in South Africa, Johannesburg, yesterday where he will deliver a keynote address today at the inaugural ‘Promise of Leadership Dialogue’.

According to a statement from the Office of the President, the three-day Summit is organized by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, in partnership with the African Leadership Initiative (ALI).

"President Kagame will speak on the topic of ‘From Conflict to Reconstruction and Development: Rwanda’s Story’, at the launch of the initiative,” the statement reads in part.

The platform aims to inspire a new calibre of leaders on the continent leading in the interest of the people, with accountability and inclusivity; and who are capable of effectively leading the continent through its current development phase.

The summit is expected to bring together the network of ALI Fellows and other young emerging leadership groups from around the continent.

Other dignitaries expected to participate at the event include; former President of Mozambique Joachim Chissano, former President of Burundi, Pierre Buyoya and the Deputy Prime Minister of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.

The President is also expected to make a courtesy call on former South African President, Nelson Mandela.
