11 more Covid-19 infections detected in refugee camps as active cases drop steadily

Rwanda on Thursday, October 15, reported 13 new Covid-19 cases, of whom 11 were identified in refugee camps located in Kirehe and Karongi districts.

Nyagatare district also confirmed a single case of the virus.

The new cluster was discovered on Wednesday, whereby 26 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Mahama Refugee Camp in Kirehe District.

Meanwhile, the country announced the recovery of 203 people on Thursday.

The latest results obtained from 2,080 sample tests taken in the last 24 hours brought the tally of Covid-19 active cases down to 319, as a result of consistent hundreds of daily recoveries.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Rwanda by mid-March, the country has confirmed a total of 4,953 Covid-19 cases of whom 4,601 have already recovered.

Concerning testing, in total, Rwanda has carried out 526,854 tests of Covid-19.
