Miss supranational Rwanda 2020 returns
Thursday, October 15, 2020
The winner for Miss Supranational Rwanda 2020 will succeed crown holder Shanita Umunyana.

Registration for the second edition of Miss Supranational Rwanda started on Thursday, October 15, as the search for the girl who will replace last year’s beauty contest winner, Shanita Umunyana, begins, organisers have announced.

The annual beauty contest, organised by Supra Family Rwanda Ltd, is seen as a good opportunity for Rwandan women to showcase their beauty, culture, and talent to the rest of the world.

According to Alphonse Nsengiyumva, the brains behind the beauty pageant, this year’s edition will happen under some few changes ranging from the contest’s new format, which will see the introduction of the talk shows focusing on debates, public speaking challenges, and fashion.

"There will be debate shows and public speaking challenges because we realized that our girls normally struggle with public speaking when they represent the country at international beauty contests and hence lose marks that cost them the crown,” Nsengiyumva told The New Times in an interview.

Following the persistent ban on entertainment events to avoid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, organisers revealed that the competition will happen virtually, whereby people will follow the competition on social media, online media, and TV shows.

The registration is open to girls of Rwandan by nationality, aged between 20 and 28 years, possess good moral conduct, must measure a minimum height of 1.70m and weigh not over 60 kilogrammes.

Aspirants must, among other conditions, have completed secondary school education, have knowledge of English, and must not carry any visible tattoos on their body.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send their applications via misssupranational@gmail.com or via WhatsApp number 0783014482 by sending their names, two photos in casual, ID number, and a small resume about herself. They are also required to present a dinner gown to be used during auditions.

The winner will be announced during the grand finale slated for December 26 [Boxing Day].

She will walk away with a cash prize of Rwf1 million and an automatic ticket to represent Rwanda at the Miss Supranational Global 2021 slated in Poland between February and May 2021.

Regarded as the third most prestigious beauty contest in the world, after Miss World and Miss Universe, Miss Supranational was introduced in 2009 with duties to work for charitable causes, and traveling the world promoting tourism, goodwill among all nations, and a healthy image.
