Miss Tonzi is among the Best Female in Gospel Musicians.

The first ever music awards in Rwanda for local artists will be held this evening at the National University’s main auditorium.
According to organisers, these awards are in recognition of the contribution of Rwandan artists to society.

Sandrine Isheja, one of the organisers of the event, adds that the awards will further motivate artists to fine tune their profession.

"Many artists produce music that lacks meaning and relevance to society. The fact that the best amongst them will be recognised is enough to motivate them to produce quality music,” said Isheja who is also a presenter of the popular show ‘Salus Relax’ on Salus FM.

Different categories will be awarded such as; best female in hip-hop, best R&B/POP, best male/female artist in gospel music, best teen artist, best afro beat artist, best music group, best record producer and best male/female artist.

The list of nominees includes famous local artists like: Rafiki, Tom Close, Riderman, and Miss Jojo. Nominees in the gospel music category include; Ezra Kwizera Theo Uwiringiye and Mani Martin.

Best Female artist nominees include; Solange Umuhire known by her stage name- Liza, Miss Shannel and Queen Ally.

The general public has been accorded an opportunity to vote their favourite artists by logging on to www.salax.ipromo.rw .
