Kagere, Tuyisenge in talks over possible move to APR

Meddie Kagere (L) and Jacques Tuyisenge were also teammates at Kenyan side Gor Mahia from 2016 to 2018.

APR have reportedly made official contact and opened talks with strikers Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge over possible moves ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The two prolific strikers are also former teammates at Police FC, in the Rwanda Premier League, and Kenya giants Gor Mahia.

Tuyisenge, 28, is in the country since last week after parting company with Angolan side Petro Atletico while Kagere reportedly flew in on Wednesday to finish the talks with the army side.

While head coach Adil Erradi is said to be an admirer for both marksmen, all the attention is on whether APR will be able to afford the two transfers – each at a reported USD50,000 sign-on fee.

However, in an interview with Times Sport on Thursday, APR spokesperson Clever Kazungu said that "I am not aware of any talks between APR and the two players.”

He added: "Every strong team in East Africa would love to sign them, but, APR signing them or trying to is a rumour at the moment.”

APR last month also completed the signing of striker Yannick Bizimana and four others as they step up their preparations for the domestic league season and the Caf Champions League.

The white-and-black outfit eye the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition, a feat that no other Rwandan side has ever achieved.

Meanwhile, the APR management has indefinitely suspended midfielder Christophe Bukuru allegedly for defying instructions from the coaching staff.
