Zoom, the popular video conferencing platform is currently experiencing widespread outages, with users reporting problems associated with joining video calls.

The outages, according to reports, seemingly sparked up Monday afternoon with popular cash monitoring service DownDetector receiving more than 8,000 outage claims.

Much as the reason for the outage remains unclear, available statistics indicate that of those who reported issues, 70% reported problems logging in, 15% had issues with the website and 13% were struggling with server connecting.

Commenting on the reports however, the videoconferencing giant said that it is investigating the issue.

"We have received reports of users being unable to start and join Zoom meetings and Webinars.” The company’s spokesperson told the media.

"We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.” He said.

Zoom video conferencing platform’s influx of users ballooned in the Covid-19 lockdown.

However, up until now, the company has come under increasing scrutiny from privacy campaigners, security researchers, and members of the public, pointing out faults in the platform’s programming, policies, and practices.
