Rwandan community in Zimbabwe celebrates Umuganura

HARARE -The Rwandan community in Zimbabwe has celebrated Umuganura with the State Minister in the Ministry of Youth and Culture Edouard Bamporiki urging them to play an active role in the socio-economic development of Rwanda.

"In the journey of Umuganura everyone must fulfil their responsibility whether young or old, whether they are in Rwanda or abroad. He or she must have objectives to have something to share with Rwanda,” Bamporiki said during Umuganura virtual commemorations.

The Rwandan community in Zimbabwe led by the country’s ambassador to Harare, James Musoni participated in the commemorations.

Bamporiki paid tribute to President Kagame for restoring Rwanda’s culture which promotes the spirit of sharing.

"……President Kagame has restored our culture so let’s also educate others and never misuse this opportunity,” Bamporiki said during the virtual commemorations, adding: "As Rwandans in Zimbabwe you must have something to share with Rwanda.”

In his message to mark the day, Ambassador Musoni, said the young generation should be educated on the importance of culture because it is the cornerstone to strengthening unity and reconciliation in society.

Musoni said Umuganura is regarded as a sign of unity among Rwandans and an opportunity to assess the past, celebrate achievements, correct mistakes and appropriately plan for the future.

"Key objectives of Umuganura (cultural harvest) are to create an opportunity for Rwandans to reflect on the positive values of Rwandan culture that is a cornerstone to strengthening unity and reconciliation of Rwandans, to preserve Rwandan culture by educating the young generation on the importance of safeguarding our cultural heritage as well as to recognize the achievements in various sectors of the economy,” he said. 

Musoni commended the unity among Rwandan community members in Zimbabwe and encouraged them to keep observing COVID-19 safely guidelines

The theme is this year is Umuganura the Source of Togetherness and the Route of Self Sustainable.
