Musanze head coach Innocent Seninga is optimistic that his side will be more competitive in the upcoming 2020/21 season following the signing of Nigerian striker Samson Irokan Ikechukwu.

Musanze finished in a disappointing 12th position in the Rwanda Premier League last season.

It is not the first time that Ikechukwu will be featuring for a Rwandan side as he previously played for Bugesera FC in the 2018/19 season.

He played for Nigerian outfit Lobi Stars FC last season and scored seven goals in 12 appearances.

Speaking to Times Sport on Monday, Seninga tipped his new signing Ikechukwu to score more goals that could earn him a long contract.

"We needed someone who can score goals and I believe we have him in Ikechukwu. In partnership with other strikers, we have faith he will make a difference,” said Seninga.

He added: "He fits well in my football style and he played in Rwanda, his instant impact will make us a more competitive team.”

Seninga’s Musanze District-sponsored side have also recently completed the signing of strikers Fred Kyambadde from Espoir and Rachid Mutebi from Etincelles.

The 2020/21 season is scheduled to get underway on October 30.
