Rwanda has so far conducted a total of 304,500 Covid-19 tests since mid-March when the country recorded the first case of this pandemic.

This is according to the latest Covid-19 update by the Ministry of Health evening on Monday August 10.

The growing number of daily tests carried out is credited to the decentralization of Covid-19 testing among other efforts by the government.

On Monday, the ministry also said that Rwanda reported 46 new recoveries and 12 new Covid-19 cases.

According to the ministry, of the new cases, nine were identified in Kigali while the other three cases were detected in Rubavu district.

The findings increased the tally of positive Covid-19 cases to 2,152 of whom 1,392 have already recovered.

The results were obtained from 5,720 sample tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

So far, seven people have succumbed to Covid-19 in the country.

On this Monday, the Minister of Health, Dr Daniel Ngamije noted that majority of the deceased were old people while others had underlying health conditions.

On this note, Ngamije reiterated that old people and those with severe health conditions should be more vigilant in embracing Covid-19 preventive measures.

Also, he said that winning the fight against this pandemic requires everyone’s input of abiding to set directives.
