Two-time champions Gisagara Volleyball Club have reportedly reached advanced talks with three star players, including centre-blocker Fred Musoni.

The other two are left-attacker Yves Mutabazi and right-attacker Samuel ‘Tyson’ Niyogisubizo.

Mutabazi, who previously announced that he was retiring from competitive volleyball, is sitting out the 2019-20 season due to injury, Niyogisubizo and Musoni play for UTB in the national volleyball league. The latter played professional volleyball in Europe from 2015 to 2019.

"They are among the best players we have in Rwandan volleyball today, and Gisagara always wants to work with the best,” an official within the club’s management told Times Sport on Monday, stressing that ‘just a few details’ are still being discussed before deals are sealed.

This publication understands that the three players, who all feature in the national team, have agreed to join the Gisagara District-sponsored club if their demands – transfer fee and salaries – are met.

In the coronavirus-hit current season, Gisagara are second on the log with 21 points, one behind defending champions Rwanda Energy Group.
