Briton tactician Calum Shaun Selby has pledged to lead Etincelles to a top four finish next season after inking a new one-year deal over the weekend as the club’s head coach.

Etincelles, who represented the country in the 2011 Caf Confederation Cup, finished in a disappointing 13th position on the 16-team Rwanda Premier League table last season

In the coronavirus-hit season, which saw the league prematurely ended at match-day 23 of the 30-game campaign, Selby was only in charge for three games before it was suspended in March. His side played out two draws against Musanze and Muhanga, while they lost to Rayon Sports.

He was initially on a short-team deal late February, replacing Abdou Beken Bizimana who resigned from the position following a string of poor results at the club.

"Given the relationship that I have built with the players, I have extended my contract with Entincelles and I will do all I can to guide the team to top four next season,” said Selby.

He added: "We are still in the building process, but we should be ready and in position to challenge big teams before the new season starts.”

The best ever league performance for Etincelles, winners of the 1988 Peace Cup (formerly Rwandan Cup), came during the 2009-10 season when they finished second.
