Rwanda on Sunday, July 12, confirmed 38 new Coronavirus cases, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 1,337 of whom 684 have recovered.

The same day also saw different Covid-19 treatment centers discharging 21 new patients.

This lowered the tally of active cases to 649.

Of the new cases, according to the ministry of health, 29 included a cluster of police station detainees in Kigali, one truck driver isolated upon entry, five cases identified in Rubavu, two from Kirehe and one from Nyamagabe.

Sunday results were drawn from 3,021 sample tests, raising the tally of total sample tests to 183,341 tests conducted since the pandemic’s outbreak in Mid-March.

Four people have so far succumbed to the Coronavirus pandemic in Rwanda.

Since two weeks ago, the coronavirus figures in Rwanda were greatly leveraged by clusteres of patients detected in detention centres, but, Rwanda’s health Minister, Dr Daniel Ngamije said on Wednesday, July 8, that all people are going to be tested before being put in detention centers to minimize the risk of Coronavirus transmission.

Globally, the coronavirus toll nears 13 million whereas half of the confirmed cases have recovered and more than 570, 000 people have succumbed to the virus so far.
