Rwanda football legend Jimmy Mulisa has been shortlisted for the Technical Director role at the soon to be launched PSG Academy in the country.

Mulisa, who was a key member of the national team (Amavubi) that competed at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Tunisia, also previously had a brief spell as interim head coach of the team.

During his playing career, Mulisa featured for local powerhouse APR – a side he later coached – before turning professional where he played for different teams in Europe and Asia.

Mulisa is vying for the position with Innocent Seninga, a former assistant coach of the national team. He is also a former head coach of Police among Rwanda Premier League sides he has managed over the years.

His coaching career began in 2011 as a trainer for Rwanda Football Association’s (Ferwafa) Academy, working specifically with players that did not travel with the team to Mexico for the U-17 World Cup.

PSG Academy Rwanda will be launched under the 3-year partnership between Rwanda and French champions Paris Saint-Germain through which Rwanda’s uniqueness and openness to the world will be conveyed.

The main objective for PSG Academy is to support Rwandan youngsters reach their full potential through organizing high level training programmes for both young talents and coaches, and enabling access to expertise offered by France’s most successful football club.

Meanwhile, two candidates – Raymond Bananeza and Theonas Ndanguza – are also vying for the General Manager position, while celebrated women’s football tactician Grace Nyinawumuntu is one of the seven finalists for the coaching role.
