GASABO - A businessman in Gasabo District was on Wednesday night shot dead by unknown assailants, police sources have revealed.

Michael Shaka, 30, was murdered in a staccato of bullets that shattered his body and he died instantly.

"The shooting took place at around 8am when Shaka was on his way back home,” police spokesperson, John Uwamungu told The New Times yesterday.

"It is still early to tell who exactly carried out the grisly murder,” said Uwamungu.

Police have launched investigations to establish the motive of the murder. His body was taken to Kibagabaga Mortuary.

The deceased, according to Police, had a Rwandan National identity Card (Indangamuntu) but his parents live in Uganda. He was a wholesaler of paints  in Gatsata, Gasabo district.

His death comes barely months after unidentified assailants shot dead Rose Nyiranzisanira Bizigaba, a business woman in Kimironko, also in Gasabo District, robbing her Rwf 5 million.

Bizigaba, 49, was a beef trader buying cows in the Eastern Province and supplying beef in Kigali City and Bukavu in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Days later, police managed to arrest a man who is suspected to have had a hand in the murder of Nyiranzisanira.
