Paying even when you’re not earning

I know JFK said not to ask what your government can do for you, especially when said government is doing a lot already, most notably cracking down on opportunists hiking food and commodity prices, among other things. That said, these are extraordinary times indeed that have turned virtues and norms on their head. It’s tough and I think I speak for everybody when I say we could all use a handout, which I imagine would vary from person to person as we’re bound to have different needs. Some people are trying to save their businesses while others aren’t sure where their next meal will come from, so I’m not really sure how it would work. Maybe a weekly or monthly stipend that everybody would use to cover their most pressing needs. My biggest worry for instance is rent. I spend more on that than anything else and I wish I didn’t have to pay that much for at least a year. Something else I hate paying for? Water and power. I wish the landlord covered those bills. Also, I was looking through my pantry and saw more empty jars and boxes than food, and all I could think of was how great it would be if someone offered to restock it. I’ve been on this vegan kick for a while, so staples like rice, potatoes, lentils and veggies wouldn’t cost a fortune in case anyone wants to pick the tab. Or maybe I should just move back in with the parents since I hate cooking anyway. Almost forgot Wi-Fi. What I wouldn’t give to have unlimited connection for free! One more thing. You know how you start fantasising about money when you’re cash strapped? Like wishing it grew on trees or would fall from the sky right into your lap! I just thought of all those game shows that have contestants trying to beat the clock in order to win some cash. Wish I could get on one right about now even though I know they’re scripted and the organisers probably wouldn’t let you win any significant amount. Yeah, Covid has me delusional like that!
