In a related development, the Belgian carrier has announced an increment of 50 percent extra free luggage on the Kigali-Brussels route

Brussels Airlines has announced an extra flight to Kigali. The extra flight will be administered only during the peak summer season, starting from June 7 to September 27, 2009.

Currently, the scheduled flights from Brussels to Kigali are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while the return flights from Kigali via Entebbe to Brussels. The additional introduced flight means the total flights increase to four in week.

Vice-president for Communication, Brussels Airlines, Geert Sciot, said in a press statement that, "The extra flight will be scheduled for Sunday flying directly from Brussels to Kigali and returning via Nairobi.”

In an earlier statement, the airliner, a European leader in flights to the Great Lakes region, had indicated that the introduction of a new flight ‘offers a great amount of possibilities to get to know Rwanda and Africa.’

In a related development, the Belgian carrier has also announced an increment of 50 percent extra free luggage on the Kigali-Brussels route.

"Brussels Airlines wants to offer an even better service on its flights. Now, on almost all African destinations, people can take 46kg in economy class and 64kg in business class,” reads the statement.

"Brussels Airlines increased the check-in baggage allowance because of a large demand and for a better product offering. Brussels Airlines found out that approximately 80 percent of the passengers wanted to take more luggage. Because the airline wants to offer a great service, it followed the wishes of its passengers. Brussels Airlines’ aim is to constantly improve its service,” it added.

Usually, passengers in economy class were checking-in 24kg of baggage free of charge and 30kg in business class.

Brussels Airlines flies more than 130 times a week between Europe and Africa and offers 16 African destinations like Kigali, Abidjan (Nigeria), Bujumbura (Burundi), Nairobi (Kenya), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) among others.

Brussels Airlines is the Belgian airline that offers the widest choice of flights to and from its base in Brussels Airport.

The group’s 3000 employees and 49 aircraft operate some 300 punctual flights daily, connecting the capital of Europe to some 70 premium European and African airports.
