Rwanda on Sunday, June 7, reported 8 new Covid-19 cases and 7 recoveries, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 439 of whom 290 have recovered.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases are linked to Rusizi cluster.

The latest update was obtained from 1,318 sample tests. In total, the country has conducted 76,331 Covid-19 sample tests.

Since the outbreak in mid-March, Rwanda has reported two deaths.

Among measures put in place to curb the spread of this pandemic in other areas include the total lockdown enforced on Rusizi’s busy city, Kamembe.

Additionally, Rwanda is also among the East African countries that have adopted a regional electronic cargo and drivers tracking system that is expected to prevent the increase of community Covid-19 cases that may be caused by cross-border truck drivers.
